Kohei Nawa – Ether
Standing at 35 feet (10.67 meters) tall, Ether explores the physical embodiment of gravity. The sculpture consists of a 3-D visualization of highly viscous liquids in a solid state, captured at the moment they are dripping downward. Erected as a column, the sculpture is designed to create a speculative state of weightlessness achieved through the effects of opposite forces, i.e. gravity and counter-gravity. This is the first permanent public artwork by Nawa in the United States.
