Franchise Freedom is a performative installation consisting of hundreds of autonomous drones flying together in the night sky. As a symbol and as a literal manifestation, the swarm of drones represents the tension between the desire for individual freedom and the security of unity in numbers. The artwork premiered at Art Basel Miami Beach 2017, followed by a performance in Amsterdam above the IJ in August 2018, another during the Burning Man Festival in September 2018, and at NASA grounds in 2019 as a tribute to the 50th anniversary of the moon landing.

Franchise Freedom was performed in Rotterdam on May 5, 2020 in celebration of all the healthcare workers during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
