Simon Heijdens – Lightweeds
Year –
2005-ongoing
Part of Simon Heijdens’ ongoing Lightweeds series, this site-specific installation was commissioned to accompany the speech of HM King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands during the 2015 Dutch royal visit to the United States. Lightweeds is a digital work that resembles a living organism, growing on the walls and floors of buildings to reveal the character of the architecture. The work’s projected silhouettes emerge from a digital seed containing genetic data, and develop in direct response to rainfall and sunshine measured by sensors in real time.
